MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br />Gray and Nancy Harrington, Pleasanton residents and the donors of the sculpture <br />Poppies at the front of the Veterans Memorial Building, were recognized for the donation to the <br />City. Mr. and Mrs. Harrington said they were interested in establishing an on-going relationship <br />with the City and believed providing public art for the Downtown area honoring Veterans was <br />the most appropriate way. <br /> <br />Newcott-Caldebury Award Recognition. <br /> <br />Recognized Pleasanton businesses for demonstrating the Community of Character <br />principles. <br /> <br />Other Soeakers <br /> <br />Jerry Wagner, a Happy Valley resident, addressed Council regarding the septic tank <br />water and the bypass road that affects the Happy Valley residents. <br /> <br />Kevin Close, a Happy Valley resident, commented on traffic counters on Sycamore <br />Road, which he believed was effective in calming traffic. He requested additional traffic calming <br />measures for Sycamore Road and Alisal Street. <br /> <br />Mr. Sullivan inquired about the status of the Blue Ribbon Committee. <br /> <br />Mr. Fialho said staff had conceptually begun the process of the creation of a blue ribbon <br />committee by introducing all of the major parties. Staff will spend some time internally <br />discussing what this process would look like and the composition of the Committee, and he <br />anticipated bringing this matter to Council in January 2006. The Committee would spend three <br />to four months brainstorming short-term traffic calming solutions for Happy Valley Road in <br />addition to what is currently being done and looking long-term for what the preferable alignment <br />might be for the bypass road. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council <br />Minutes <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />11/15/05 <br />
