MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Other SDeakers Kevin Ryan, a Pleasanton resident, presented written communication to Council regarding the need for senior housing in Pleasanton. He pointed out the housing development located at the east end of Stoneridge Drive is closer to the departure end of the Livermore Airport runway. This property is directly in line with the extended centerline of the long runway and under the standard instrument departure path used by jets and many other aircrafts. He believed car dealerships and other retail is an appropriate and a compatible land use for this property. He pointed out that other areas in Pleasanton such as Hacienda Business Park and the Bernal property are more appropriate for senior housing. Nelson Fialho, City Manager, reminded Council that it held a workshop last week on the issue of land use for Staples Ranch. Council directed staff to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that would identify the process for consideration of the senior housing complex, Staples Ranch and the Auto Mall. He noted that the MOU would be presented to Council at its second meeting in November, and the discretionary PUD process is approximately a six-month process.
