Mr. Fialho recommended the installation of stop signs and direct staff to measure the
impacts of the traffic speeds and return to Council with mitigation measures that might include
the cost to install a radar speed sign.
Ms. McGovern supported Mr. Fialho's recommendation and asked that the cost to install
a radar speed sign be included in the report that returns to Council. She asked how much it
would cost to install a radar speed sign.
Mr. Knowles believed it would cost approximately $6,000 to install a radar speed sign.
Mr. Brozosky asked if Ponderosa was providing four radar speed signs as part of its
mitigation for its project.
Mr. Knowles said the four radar speed signs have been designated for residential streets
around the Ponderosa development.
Mr. Fialho understood what Ms. McGovern was trying to accomplish, as it is a potential
solution; however, there might be other solutions that should be considered as part of this
remodification.
Ms. McGovern said the major issue was safety.
The motion as made by Mr. Thorne, seconded by Mr. Sullivan, was amended to
authorize staff to install a stop sign control on side streets and direct staff to measure
future speeds on the roadway and return to Council with mitigation measures that might
include the cost to install a radar speed sign or other mitigation measures.
The roll call vote was taken as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, and Mayor
Hosterman
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAINED: None
There was a break at 10:20 p.m.
The meeting reconvened at 10:25 p.m.
6b(21
Review of the roadwav width on Vinevard Avenue between Montevino Drive and Bernal
Avenue.
