2. ROLL CALL

Deputy City Clerk Karen Gonzales called the roll, which is recorded as follows: Councilmembers
present were: Steve Brozosky, Cindy McGovern, Matt Sullivan, and Mayor Hosterman. Staff members
present were: Nelson Fialho, City Manager; Michael Roush, City Attorney; Steven Bocian, Deputy City
Manager; Jerry Iserson, Director of Planning and Community Development, Andy Jorgenson, Civic Arts
Manager, Steve Cusenza, Manager of Utilities, Jim Wolfe, Director of Parks and Recreation, Scott Baker,
Interim Public Works Director, and Eileen Morley, Community Services Manager.

3. AGENDA AMENDMENTS
There were no staff initiated amendments.

It was moved by Ms. McGovern, seconded by Mr. Sullivan to place an urgency item on the consent
calendar regarding the appointment of Marcia Jones, a teacher at Harvest Park Middle School to the
Altamont Landfill Education Advisory Committee in order for her to begin to work on the grant process that
is already in progress.

Mayor Hosterman interviewed Ms. Jones earlier in the day and believed Ms. Jones would be a
good choice for the City of Pleasanton.

The roll call vote was taken as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, and Mayor Hoaterman
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

All ayes and the motion passed unanimously.
4. CONSENT CALENDAR

Mr. Brozosky requested the removal of item 4f from the consent calendar to Public Hearing and
Other Matters.

Mayor Hosterman noted that agenda item 4f was removed from the Consent Calendar and placed
under Public Hearings and Other Matters as item 6e.

Mr. Brozosky also had a question regarding item 4e. Mr. Brozosky asked staff about the new
Veterans Building Committee called the VOP and inquired whether one of the liaisons for the committee,
Director of Parks and Community Services, had voting rights.

Mr. Wolfe, Director of Parks and Community Services, stated that the director and designee are not
voting members and are liaisons for the group.

Mr. Fialho clarified the normal internal practice is not to allow staff the ability to vote on these
issues. Mr. Fialho noted this is a committee and not commission.

Ms. McGovern also noted a typo error with the email address for the contact person and asked for
it to be corrected.

Pleasanton City Council 2 04/19/05
Minutes
