k. Adopted Resolution 05-01g, a resolution recognizing the rededication of the "Pleasanton' Arch <br /> sign and commended the individuals who completed the renovation effort. <br /> <br />I. MEETINGS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Sullivan presented a commendation to the Pleasanton Lions Club in recognition of its 75th <br /> anniversary. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sullivan presented a proclamation to Friends of Gingerbread in recognition of declaring <br /> April 3-9, 2005 as 'NVeek of the Young Child" in Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Scott Baker, Acting Director of Public Works, provided opening comments for the rededication <br /> of the downtown "Pleasanton' Arch sign, and recognized staff for their efforts in completing this <br /> project. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sullivan presented commendations to staff representatives Gordon Cordova, Street <br /> Maintenance Division, Bob Elliott, Parks and Community Services Department, and Chris Rizzoli, <br /> Supports Services Department, commending the project team for restoring and preserving this City's <br /> landmark for current and feature generations. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fialho presented a plaque commemorating the restoration of the "Pleasanton" arch which <br /> read: "Originally installed by the Women's Improvement Club in 1932, the Pleasanton sign has <br /> become a familiar landmark and prominent symbol of the community. In 2005, the sign underwent a <br /> complete restoration and was rededicated by the City Council on April 5, 2005." <br /> <br /> Debbie Jefferey, representing Pleasanton Garbage Services, announced the Second Annual <br /> E-Waste Collection Day to be held on Saturday, April 16, 2005 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 3333 Busch <br /> Road. This program is available to Pleasanton residents free of charge. <br /> <br /> In response to an inquiry by Mr. Brozosky, Mr. Fialho mentioned that the voters in Alameda <br /> County enacted Measure D funds in 1991. This revenue is collected at the landfill for every truckload <br /> that is deposited and disbursed on a pro-rata basis to area agencies. The City receives <br /> approximately $230,000 per year and the cost of this program is $60,000.
