This community fund was launched last year
in which $45,000 was raised and dispersed to charities and nonprofit agencies such as
Open Heart Kitchen, Tri-Valley Haven, Access Community Health Center, Pleasanton
Cultural Arts Council, and the Senior Support Center of the Tri-Valley. The Pleasanton
Weekly is continuing these efforts this year and has added three more nonprofit
charities, and raised the goal to $75,000. He encouraged everyone to donate to this
fund. He pointed out that the Tri-Valley Community Foundation is matching dollar for
dollar for every contribution. The form to pledge contributions may be found in the
weekly edition of the Pleasanton Weekly or at the Pleasanton Weekly office.

Ted Kinzer, representing the Pony Baseball League, reaffirmed the League's
comments to the Parks and Recreation Commission that it supports the plan that has
been in place regarding the renovation of the existing athletic fields at Donlon
Elementary School. The Pony Baseball League was hopeful that money used for the
renovations at Donlon Elementary School fields would not take away from what is
happening at the Bernal property, as lighted sports fields are a main priority for its
program as well as other athletic programs. He pointed out that Donlon fields are the
only official assigned practice area for the Pony Baseball League, and it has a concern
with regard to where practices will be held if these fields are used for games. The Pony
Baseball League encouraged the City to leverage more opportunities like this where a
school and its facilities may be upgraded to allow for multi use purposes.

Pleasanton City Council 5 12/07/04
Minutes
