Mayor Hosterman presented commendations to Ms. Ayala and Mr. Campbell. <br />She also presented a special commendation to outgoing Mayor Pico. <br /> <br />REMARKS BY NEVVLY ELECTED MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> <br /> Ms. McGovern was proud to be a Councilmember and thanked everyone for the <br />opportunity to be on the Council. She noted that the past Council was an active group. <br />She promised to serve the community well. She recognized and thanked her family, <br />Campaign Chair, Campaign Treasurer, and the entire Campaign Committee for their <br />support during the campaign. She appreciated the community for going to the polls and <br />voting and standing up for what they believe. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sullivan thanked Ms. Ayala and Mr. Campbell for their service to the <br />community. He gave a special thank you to outgoing Mayor Pico for opening up this <br />community to local government and making it accessible. He recognized and thanked <br />his family and his Campaign Committee for their support and encouragement during the <br />campaign. He thanked the people of Pleasanton for bestowing this honor on him, which <br />is a humble experience to be elected to this representative body. He believed this <br />Council had many challenges before it over the next two to four years. He promised to <br />do his best to represent the people of Pleasanton while he is on the Council. <br /> <br /> Mayor Hosterman deemed it an honor to be elected as Mayor and the first <br />woman Mayor of such a wonderful city. She started as a community activist many years <br />ago and served the community over the past two years as Councilmember. During her <br />tenure on the Council and with Mayor Pico's help, she has been able to be appointed to <br />many regional boards and committees. She is excited to step into the role of Mayor and <br />will represent the community's best interest in so many important issues facing the City <br />today. She noted that she made promises to her constituents, which she intends to <br />keep. She recognized and expressed a special thank you to her Campaign Manager <br />and Treasurer, and particularly her husband, Michael Hosterman, and her daughter, <br />Megan Hosterman. She thanked outgoing Mayor Pico for his years of service. <br /> <br /> Kirk Ridgeway, Pleasanton's Poet Loriet, presented the next two scenes of <br />Pleasanton's history, a historical play of the City of Pleasanton, to commemorate this <br />opening night for the new leadership. <br /> <br />4. ROLL CALL <br /> <br /> City Clerk Dawn Abrahamson called the roll, which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers present were Steve Brozosky, Cindy McGovern, Matt Sullivan, and <br />Mayor, Jennifer Hosterman. Staff members present were: Nelson Fialho, City Manager; <br />Michael Roush, City Attorney; Steven Bocian, Deputy City Manager; Rob Wilson, <br />Director of Public Works; Dave Iremonger, Financial Services Manager/Treasurer; <br />Jacqui Diaz, Assistant to the City Manager; and Scott Baker, Assistant Director of Public <br />Works/Operations. <br /> <br />5.
