Mr. Br0z0sky referred to the island where the gas pumps are located, The rock
veneer goes to the top and there was concern that the veneer should only go part way
up so as to match the building. There was concern about the hazard of falling rocks and
the difficulty in cleaning it. He asked if that could be modified through staff without going
through a design review process, He asked staff's opinion about the look,

Mr. Iserson said Council could direct a modification to the design. He did not
think there was a safety issue with the veneer, but if Council wanted to match the
building design, it could condition staff to modify that. He said having the stone go all
the way up was a way to make the gas pump canopy more attractive. The design would
look good either way.

Mr, Brozosky indicated he had spoken with a Planning Commissioner and this
matter was inadvertently missed at the Planning Commission meeting. This project is
something needed in this area. Residents have to drive a long way to get gas and he
welcomed a station that is competitively priced. He preferred to spend money in
Pleasanton rather than Livermore. He felt traffic would be insignificant and the design
was very attractive for a gas station. He believed any other use would create more
traffic at this intersection.

It was moved by Mr. Brozosky, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to adopt Resolution
No. 04-080, approving a negative declaration for the application of Fairland
Investment, Inc. for design review approval, conditional use permit, and
modification to the Stanley Business Park PUD Development Plan, as filed under
Case PDR-289/PCUP-86/PUD-81-25-6M.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Council members - Ayala, Brozosky, Campbell, Hoaterman, and
Mayor Pico
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

It was moved by Mr. Brozosky, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to adopt Resolution
No. 04-O81, approving the application of Fairland Investment, Inc. for design
review and conditional use permit, as filed under Case PDR-289/PCUP-86, subject
to the conditions of approval, with the modification that the stone veneer on the
service station canopy may be lowered to match the market/carwash buildings, if
desired by the property owners.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Council members - Ayala, Brozosky, Campbell, Hosterman, and
Mayor Pico
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Pleasanton City Council 7 10/19/04
Minutes
