Mr. Brozosky asked where the parking is located in correlation with the
amphitheater?

Ms. Bush said that the parking for the amphitheater is located on either side of the
civic arts facility. Marta Fry chose to prepare an orchard-parking scheme to look like an
existing orchard when parking is at full capacity.

In response to an inquiry by Mr. Brozosky, Ms. Bush said that pedestrians would
be crossing Valley Avenue and Marta Fry has implemented methods to slow down traffic
so that it becomes pedestrian friendly.

Mr. Campbell was intrigued by the agricultural concept. He asked how it would
interact with the neighboring homes.

Ms. Bush believed the agricultural concept created an interesting buffer. She
believed people would like to see something that is quiet next to residential development.
Residents would be able to appreciate the scenery depending upon the season.

Mr. Campbell was concerned about the dust that would be created as a result of
the farms being located near residential areas.

Ms. Bush believed sod that would eventually need to be mowed or punched for
irrigation would generate the same level of pollution. This concept emphasizes open space and the recreation of wildlife
habitat organized around a curvilinear lakefront system and mounding in the Central
Area. Land on both sides of 1-680 are linked by a series of tunnels under the freeway.
Primary uses include eight sports fields clustered in the northeast comer of the site, civic
arts center in the middle of the Central Area, train station north of Valley Avenue, trails,
agricultural club, farmers market, Park-N-Ride, child care, religious facility, teen center,
dog area, nature education area, and community garden.

Mr. Brozosky asked how much water could be contained in the reservoir that is
located in the middle of the property? He asked if it is sustainable?

Mr. Dunbar said the water is sustainable. Interstice has hydrologically calculated
that the reservoir will be full and will contain all of the water obtained from the site
during the winter months. By catching, holding and re-circulating water, the Park will

Pleasanton City Council 3 10/12/04
Minutes
