MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Councilmember Ayala presented a commendation to Gary Ferris, owner of Kolln <br />Hardware, for many years of service provided to the community. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala presented a proclamation to Vickie Thomas, in recognition of being <br />selected the Pleasanton Unified School District 2004 Teacher of the Year. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala presented a commendation to Glenda Garcia, in recognition of being <br />chosen the School Crossing Guard of the Year. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala presented a proclamation to Bill Jorgensen, Citizens for a Caring <br />Community, in recognition of Affordable Housing Week, June 5-13, 2004. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala presented commendations to Daisy Sun, Karl Frazier and Tessa Miller for <br />fa'st, second and third placement in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala presemed a proclamation to Nancy Moore and Jerry Hill, Lions Club, <br />recognizing June 2004 as Scleroderma Awareness Month in Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala presented commendations to Safety Valet Patrol members Alexi Bridges, <br />Joshua Cho, Tom Lee, Stephanie Munro, and Tae Joo Parks for exceptional service. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala presemed a proclamation to Joyce Shapiro and Bernie Billen, co-chairs of <br />The Great Race Committee, declaring July 2, 2004 as "The Great Race Day." <br /> <br />Other Speakers <br /> <br /> Cindy Wall, representing the Golden Eagle Homeowners Association, mentioned <br />that the Golden Eagle Homeowners Association submitted an application to the Planning <br />Department two years ago to build a fence along Foothill Road. Staff indicated that it <br />would allow a four-foot fence as long as public access was granted along the lower end of <br />Golden Eagle to development that is on north side of the community. The purpose of the <br />fence would eliminate people from trespassing onto the property. She noted that the <br />fence would be a high-end fence. The fence would be tucked in along the foliage so there <br />would not be any distraction to Foothill Road motorists.
