Mr. Brozosky did see the nexus between the refund from ABAG Power and the
construction of Fire Station 94, as this project will be a showcase for energy efficiency in
the City of Pleasanton.

Mayor Pico believed it would be easier to place the $615,000 refund from ABAG
Power into the pot to determine with next year's budget how to allocate Capital
Improvement funds, including energy efficiency projects.

Ms. McKeehan informed Council that staff set aside a quarter of a million dollars
for energy projects. She noted that the cost of constxucting Fire Station g4 is $6 million
dollars with a shortfall of $650,000.

Mayor Pico asked if the landscaping for Fire Station g4 was included in the bid.

Mr. Wilson said that landscaping was included in the bid for the construction of
Fire Station 94.

Mr. Brozosky heard the price of concrete would increase significantly. He asked
staff if the increase was reflected in the contract.

Mr. Wilson said that the contract bid reflects the price of concrete that the
contractor is willing to use. If staff were to rebid this project, the increase in concrete
would be a factor.

It was moved by Mr. Brozosky, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to approve the plans
and specifications for Fire Station g4 on the Bernal property, review the bids and
award a construction contract for the subject project to Blackshcar Construction,
Inc. for the low bid amount of $3,280,000, and authorize the City Manager to enter
into the above contract.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Brozosky, Campbell, Hosterman, and

Mayor Pico
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Pleasanton City Council 21 06/01/04
Minutes
