Ms. McKeehan said these were the exact conversations that had taken place in bringing
this report to Council, the simplicity versus the "homey" feeling. Adding the temporary
message is something that can be done. This is the debate that always goes on when a
proposal like this comes forward.

Mr. Brozosky said seeing the service dub signs in other cities indicated a community
where residents are proud of what takes place. Yet, he sees the other side of keeping it
simple and elegant.

JetTy Wagner said $90,000 for 9 entry way signs is not a good way to spend that mount
of money. Signs like this are dangerous and block oncoming traffic, creating traffic
hazards. As an individual paying real estate taxes he felt the money would be better
spent on recreation areas and field lights.

It was moved by Mr. Campbell, seconded by Mr. Brozosky, to issue a Request for
Proposals (RFP) for the Fabrication and Installation of City Gateway Signage.

The roll call vote was taken as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Brozosky, Campbell and Hosterman
NOES: Councilmember Ayala and Mayor Pico
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL

There was no Matters Initiated By Council.

8. CLOSED SESSION

The Closed Session was held before the Regular Meeting.

9. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m., to meet again in
a Regular Session on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers at 200
Old Bemal Avenue.

Respectfully submitted,

Marsha B.
