the next Planning Commission meeting to talk about scheduling meetings. She had
questions related to the process and how it relates to timing, as staffhas limited
resources. She pointed out that Livermore's process took about 18 to 20 months. She
noted that the City of Livermore addressed land use and circulation early on in the
process.

Ms. Ayala indicated that under Matters Initiated by Council, Council could
perhaps provide some more direction as to the process and schedule for traffic issues.

Vanessa Kawaihau, 871 Sycamore Road, addressed Council regarding the golf
course bypass road.

Bill Howell, 6651 Alisal Street, addressed Council regarding the bypass road. He
recognized Council for its efforts, and respected Council for trying to find and set aside
funds for the bypass road.

Janet Lightfoot, 6300 Alisal Street, addressed Council regarding the bypass road.
She did not concur with Mr. Howell's comments and objected to general remarks made
about Happy Valley residents.

Kevin Close, 871 Sycamore Road, mentioned that the current staffreport for the
status of the bypass road to access the Spotorno Property and the Callippe Preserve Golf
Course and Open Space did not reflect the location of the bypass road as noted in the
Happy Valley Specific Plan. He was hopeful this could be reflected in the staffreport
when the matter was brought back to Council at its meeting on February 3.

6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS

Item 6a(1)
Approval of a design concept for the interior of the Callippe Preserve Golf Course
Clubhouse Fireside Room to integrate memorial artwork relating to the late Randy
Lum and to reflect the historic nature of the site. (SR 04:003)

Brian Swift presented the staffreport.

Mayor Pico made it clear that Council's intent was not to name the room or the
Clubhouse after Randy Lum.

Mr. Swit~ pointed out that in some places, the staff report referred to the area as
the Clubhouse Fireside Room and in other places, the staffreport referred to it as the
Clubhouse Fireside Lounge. It has no name and is only used in trying to identify the
area, which is the area off the main clubhouse and restaurant.

In reality, Mr. Campbell wondered what the fireside room would look like, as he
was not clear what it meant.

Pleasanton City Council 4 01/20/04
M'mutes
