Ms. Hosterman said she would be concerned about the mixed message that
Council would be sending about having a portion of Val Vista Park open.

Mayor Pico asked staff for the target date in opening Val Vista Park.

Ms. McKeehan said that Val Vista Park is currently intended to open on May 1.
It could be open sooner than May 1, but it is dependent upon the weather. Staff has not
been willing to open it up as the park is in the maintenance period, and if it is opened
prior to completion, things might need to be redone, which ultimately costs more money
in the end. She pointed out that a neighborhood has an interest in using certain areas of
Val Vista Park and has asked staffnot to open certain portions of the park without
opening the entire park.

Mr. Brozosky noted that the Youth Master Plan Implementation Committee
brought this matter up at its last meeting and asked him to bring the matter forward to
Council for its consideration.

Ms. Ayala asked if it was possible for staff to prepare a memo for Council
addressing what portions of the park are completed?

Ms. McKeehan noted that the full grow-in period for the park is what is holding
up the opening of Val Vista Park. She indicated that staffwould provide a memo to
Council addressing the portions of the park that are completed.

8. CLOSED SESSION

The Closed Session was held before the meeting.

9. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:25 p.m. to meet
again in a Regular Session on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council
Chambers located at 200 Old Bernal Avenue.

Respectfully submitted,

City Clerk

Pleasanton City Council 33 02/17/04
Minutes
