MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 16, 2003 6:30 P.M. CLOSED SESSION Conference with legal counsel regarding pending litigation et al. v. Pleasanton Unified School District) Conference with legal counsel regarding settlement of pending Worker's Compensation claims of Panl Helms and Robert Bonmda 1. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico at 7:08 p.m. Councilmember Brozosky led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. He reminded the public of the first General Plan update community meeting to be held on Wednesday, September 17 at Lydiksen Elementary School beginning at 7 p.m. He encouraged everyone to become involved and provide feedback. This will be the first of several meetings. Also being held this evening at the School District is the first forum for the School District board for the upcoming election in November. The previous School Board election had a small turnout. He wa~ hopeful this year would have a larger turnout as nine candidates are running. He encouraged everyone to become informed of the current issues of the School District, as it's a big infrastructure for the City. He also invited everyone to attend the "Great Rib Cook Off" to be held downtown on Main Street this weekend. Lastly, he mentioned that early voting for the October 7th Statewide Special Election was available in the City Clerk's office. Early voting began on September 15 and would continue through September 26. 2. ROLLCALL City Clerk Dawn Abrahamson called the roll, which is recorded as follows: Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Steve Brozosky, Matt Campbell, Jennifer Hosterman, and Mayor Tom Pico. Staffmembers present were: Deborah McKeehan, City Manager; Michael Roush, City Attorney; Steven Bocian, Deputy City Manager; Nelson Fialho, Deputy City Manager; Brian Swift, Director of Planning and Community Development; and Rob Wilson, Director of Public Works.
