(SR 03:237)

Steven Bocian presented the staff report.

Mr. Brozosky asked about the public participation at the presentations.

Mr. Bocian said about fifteen people attended, consisting mostly of downtown
representatives. He believed there will be more public participation once there is a definite plan
to present. At this point, there are only concepts for uses and needs.

Ms. McKeehan indicated there are two key issues to keep in mind. With the temporary
improvements to the existing city office buildings, there is adequate space for employees. This
plan is not about developing more staff space. The issue is that the City has put temporary
buildings on the city hall site that would not have been allowed by any other business downtown.
That was done to house the employees until a decision was reached on what to do with the site.
Those buildings will remain for the next few years. The other key issue is what kind of entrance
to Main Street is desired. No matter how attractive the temporary buildings may be, that is not
what should be at the entrance to downtown Pleasanton.

Pleasanton City Council 17 08/19/03
Minutes
