Other Speakers

Barbara Thomas, 1141 Catalina #137, Livermore, thanked Council for proclaiming
Hunger Awareness Week at its last meeting. She noted the Th-Valley Hunger Coalition, which
is composed of the Interfaith Sharing, Tri-Valley Haven, St. Vincent de Paul and the Road
Runner Project. Open Heart Kitchen is the agency that provides hot meals. All these
organizations need storage facilities and she asked the community to help them find about 3,000
sq. ft. of empty warehouse space.

Clive Schliewe, 6330 Laura Lane, noted a fire in the Happy Valley area last Saturday,
which he felt was further reason for the City to proceed with the bypass road as soon as possible.
He also spoke against a community park in Happy Valley because of the additional traffic. He
noted the dry grasses and other vegetation in the Happy Valley and expressed concerns about
fires. He appreciated the verbal commitment to a bypass road, but felt that was not enough. He
believed the temporary access to the golf course could last for ten or more years and urged
Council to set a date to commence construction on the bypass road.

Vanessa Kawaihau, 871 Sycamore Road, commented about three newspaper articles.
First she noted Pleasanton's failure to get a representative on the Livermore Airport
Commission. She indicated the residents on the east side of Pleasanton could attend the
