MINUTES
OF THE
MEETING
OF THE
PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL

June 17, 2003

6:30 P.M. CLOSED SESSION

Council conferred with legal counsel regarding pending litigation (Signature Properties,
et al. v. Pleasanton Unified School District, et al).

6:55 P.M. GEOLOGIC HAZARD ABATEMENT DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS

MEET1NG (SR 03:178)

This was held at the end of the regular Council meeting.

1. CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico at 7:02
p.m.

Councilmember Hosterman led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. She related her
experience on May 15, 2003, when she went to Sacramento for a League of California Cities
event. This was to support a resolution establishing the conditions under which the League could
support a budget recovery package which includes contributions of City funds to the state or
support for temporary taxes to finance the state debt, if Legislators commit to put a measure on
the ballot to constitutionally protect communities from future diversion of local government
general tax revenues. The voters would also be asked to approve a prudent general fund reserve
requirement, as is done in the City of Pleasanton. She announced a website for recycling used
computer parts (www.stopwaste.org). She noted the forthcoming computer roundup day in
Castro Valley on July 26 and a similar event could occur in Pleasanton in the near future.

2. ROLLCALL

City Clerk Peggy Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows: Councilmembers
present were Kay Ayala, Steve Brozosky, Matt Campbell, Jennifer Hosterman, and Mayor Tom
Pico. Staff members present were: Nelson Fialho, Deputy City Manager; Steven Bocian,
Deputy City Manager; Michael Roush, City Attorney; Robert Wilson, Director of Public Works;

Pleasanton City Council 1 06/17/03
Minutes
