It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Mr. Campbell, to conceptually support the <br />formation of a Bay Area Regional Energy Office and forward the item to the Pieasanton <br />Energy Committee for further evaluation and input within the context of the Council's <br />priorities established earlier this year for the PEC; and to conceptually support the <br />activities of Cities for Community Aggregation of Power and authorize the Mayor to sign a <br />letter expressing the Council's support; that the Council ask the PEC to fully analyze the <br />pros and cons of purchasing wholesale electricity as part of the implementation of the <br />Energy Plan; and authorize the City Manager on behalf of the City and the Pleasanton <br />Energy Committee to join the coalition and explore any other sources to determine the <br />City's interest in wholesale electricity as a part of implementing the Energy Plan. <br /> <br />The role call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Brozosky, Campbell, Hosterman, and Mayor Pico <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Mr. Campbell questioned ABAG being the overseer of the Regional Energy Office. Was <br />this appropriate for them to do it? <br /> <br /> Ms. McKeehan said it depended upon the structure that is created. Ultimately it may not <br />be the group that does it. It is starting the comment period to provide the opportunity to do this <br />regionally, with the structure still to be determined. <br /> <br />Item 6g <br />Budget Update Report. (SR 03:129) <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala believed this item should be heard earlier in the agenda and requested that the <br />item be continued to the next meeting. <br /> <br /> Ms. McKeehan explained that this is purely informational and is not approving any part <br />of the budget. It is only an update on the preparation of the budget and the issues that are <br />appearing.
