This item was moved to 6j <br /> <br />Approve Resolution No. 03 -020 in support of our troops serving both at home <br />and abroad and authorize a "liaison committee" coordinated by Pleasanton <br />residents to seek community support to organize activities on behalf of C- <br />Company, 526th FSB, 101 Airborne Division. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mary Giess, Vice-President of the Friends of Gingerbread Preschool Parents, with <br />her children, Joseph, Jack, and Annie, on behalf of Gingerbread Preschool staff, parents, <br />and students, thanked the Council for proclaiming April 6 - 12 on the Week of the Young <br />Child. This is an annual celebration of early childhood and is a tribute to all those people <br />in the community who help teach and support young children. It is designed to help each <br />of us make the most of the unique opportunities inherent in the early years. The City of <br />Pleasanton has demonstrated this as it continues to provide programs such as Gingerbread <br />Preschool for the community's young children. Next week at Gingerbread they will be <br />participating in a special food drive for the Tri-Valley Haven. Parents will bid on their <br />children's art work with canned food and the week will culminate with an Ice Cream <br />Social, April 12 - 13 at Gingerbread. She invited people to come and enjoy ice cream. <br />The children then gave Councilmembers a lapel pins to wear in honor of the Week of the <br />Young Child and invitations to attend the ice cream social. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico mentioned that the artwork, including the triceratops dinosaur, in the <br />lobby was created by students of Gingerbread. <br /> <br />Ms. Ayala presented Ms. Giess' children with the proclamation. <br /> <br /> Lisa Adamos and James Paxson, President of Hacienda Owners Association, <br />introduced a tax savings tool for both employers and employees called the Commuter <br />Choice Tax Benefit Program. The Tri Valley Resource Team on Air Quality created a <br />brochure guide for the program, providing the community with a new oppommity to <br />understand the program and how it can benefit them and implement it.
