Vanessa Kawaihau, 871 Sycamore Road, asked why it was necessary for
Pleasanton to develop and employ a political solution to the Happy Valley bypass road?
She asked who was responsible for drafting the political solution. She wanted copies of
documents that would support the city's contention that the bypass road was not intended
to mitigate traffic and was only a political solution to seduce the Happy Valley voter.
She felt that without the bypass road, traffic would be more than doubled on loop roads.
She addressed the potential traffic situation on Alisal Street and Sycamore Road. She
presented copies of her questions to the Deputy City Clerk.

Janet Lindfoot, 6300 Alisal Street, felt enhancing the quality of life should be a
model for the City of Pleasanton to follow.

Anne Fox, 2866 Garden Creek Circle, expressed her concerns about the traffic
speed limit changes on Stoneridge Drive between the Business Park and Kamp Drive,
from 35 mph to 40 mph. She said signs indicating the speed limit at 40 mph are now
posted in this section. She felt this is a misinterpretation of the January City Council
meeting and wanted the signs changed back to 35 mph. She stated her reasons for the
lower speed limit.

There were no further speakers.

6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS

Item 6a
PUD-01-1M~ Mark Arola and Jun McCurdy (SR 03:029)

Councilmember Brozosky excused himself from hearing this item because of a
condition of approval which links it to property that is within 500 feet of his property.

Brian Swift presented the staff report.

Ms. Ayala asked if there would be a traffic light at the intersection of the existing
and the realigned Vineyard Avenues.

Mr. Swift said there would be a traffic light at this intersection, providing access
to the cul-de-sac for five lots and providing access on the opposite street for the three to
four houses. Primarily the reason for the signal is to provide a safe way for bicyclist and
pedestrians and users of the trail to cross the main trail from Shadow Cliffs to the trail
near existing Vineyard Avenue.

Ms. Hosterman had a question about this property not being a part of the
Vineyard Corridor Specific Plan.

Pleasanton City Council 4 03/04/03
Minutes
