Adopted Ordinance No. 1876, mending the Pleasanton Municipal Code to allow porches
and covered patios in residential districts to come within twelve feet of the front yard
property line with design review approval, as filed under Case PRZ-16.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councllmembers - Ayala, Brozosky, Campbell, Hosterman, and Mayor Plco
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

The Commendations for Barbara Van Slyke and Ashley Landieo were presented by
Councilmember Brozosky.

Ms. Van Slyke related her history of volunteering and noted the hours of the Peddler's
Shoppe at the Senior Center. She thanked Council for the commendation.

Ms. Landico thanked Council for the commendation for her art work.

Other Speakers

Kevin Close, 871 Sycamore Road, referred to an article in the Pleasanton Weekly
regarding the lawsuit with San Francisco regarding the civic center property. He said he knows
how it feels after years of negotiation to have a major element removed fi.om the deal.

Vanessa Kawalhau, 871 Sycamore Road, expressed her safety concerns regarding the
construction of the Alisal Street improvements and the golf course project. There were two
recent incidents that were not addressed to her satisfaction. She felt that whatever is going on in
court or the fact that residents do or do not want the project should have no bearing on how the
City responds to safety concerns. Finally, she referred to her letter to the editor. She felt the
City was usurping the voting rights of those who wanted sewer and water service by requiring
them to vote in favor of annexation. She asked staffto comment on the legality of that.

Mr. Roush believed Ms. Kawaihau was referring to the fact that property owners who
wanted sewer and water service will be required to sign a preannexation agreement. As par~ of
that agreement, the property owner would be required to vote yes on annexation if such a process
should occur.

Ms. Hosterman inquired about the safety issues that were raised.

Mr. Roush indicated staff will get the details and will have discussions with the
construction manager.

Pleasanton City Council 4 01/21/03
Minutes
