Ms. Ayala indicated many small businesses are struggling with Workers' Compensation <br />costs. She encouraged Chamber members to take an active role in Workers' <br />Compensation issues in town. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Campbell, Dennis, Michelotti, and Mayor Pico <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: Councilmember Ayala on item 4d <br /> <br />5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Assemblywoman Lyrme Leach, 15t~ Assembly District, who is leaving office due to term <br />limits, indicated she is on a "farewell tour". She has been visiting communities she has been <br />privileged to represent over the last six years. She has represented at least one third of <br />Pleasanton, although she counted the entire City in her responsibilities. She wanted to thank the <br />citizens and to say what an honor it has been to be their representative in the State Assembly <br />over the last six years. She has enjoyed many activities in Pleasanton, including the various <br />parades, festivals, fairs, etc. Pleasanton has a wonderful community and community spirit. She <br />wished the best for Pleasanton in the future and thanked everyone again for the opportunity to <br />serve. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala noted that Ms. Leach always seemed to be at events in Pleasanton and was <br />extremely accessible to the citizens. That is what is needed fi.om the leaders of the State. She <br />thanked Ms. Leach for her service. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti echoed those comments and noted Ms. Leach listened to the input fi.om <br />residents. She always had enthusiasm in everything she did. Ms. Michelotti also thanked her. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis commented that Ms. Leach had done so much for Pleasanton and other cities <br />as far as being responsive to local issues and can'ying the message to the State. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico noted she had been especially supportive on transportation issues and he <br />wished that all Pleasanton's representatives would be present in Pleasanton as otten as Ms. <br />Leach had been. <br /> <br />Mr. Campbell wished her good luck in her next journey. <br /> <br /> Bob Maas, President of the Board of Directors of Ballistic United Soccer Club, <br />introduced the other members of the Board. He indicated today would be remembered as a first <br />in the history of youth sports and the City of Pleasanton because of the fact that a non-profit <br />youth organization will donate money to the City to forge a partnership with the ultimate goal of <br />building a community park. This will be one more amenity for the youth of Pleasanton and a <br />tremendous site for playing soccer.
