Keith Granucci, 3905 Kral Place, said he has small children who use the park. If the dog
park is put in, it will change the whole complexion of the neighborhood. He said he had visited
Muirwood Park and agreed it is an apples and oranges comparison with Nielsen. His wife had
been to Muirwood Park and did not know there was a dog park because it is so far away from the
play area and out of sight. He reiterated his objection to the dog park at Nielsen Park. They
have 280 signatures from people without canvassing the neighborhood. Many who signed the
petitions are dog owners as well. He noted that even though a dog may be well behaved on its
own, one cannot predict how the dog will act around other dogs. Ifa dog park is installed at
Nielsen, he would not let his children play there anymore.

Ms. Dennis referred to the many mails she had received both pro and con. She felt there
must be a way to compromise so there is a dog park, whether in this location or not. She urged
people to attend the Park and Recreation Commission hearings to find some common ground.

Ms. Ayala reminded people that Council cannot discuss this matter or give direction
because the item is not on the agenda. She asked staffto give a brief status of the issue and the
next steps.

Ms. McKeehan indicated staff frequently prepares nice color pictures when a process is
started. Staffpresents a proposal and asks for feedback. Frequently the final plan is very
different than the original plan. She indicated staffis still at the beginning of this process. The
concerns of the residents have been heard and the information will be forwarded to the Parks and
Recreation Commission. She wanted people to know that a final decisions has not been made
and they should not feel they have to "fight city hall". As this process continues, she was
confident criteria will be developed and a number of other options will be considered.

6.
