MATTERS INITIATED BY THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Dennis, seconded by Ayala, to reconsider, <br />and to put on a future agenda, a previous Council action considering a possible <br />ballot measure for land uses on the Bernal Property. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Campbell, Dennis, Michelotti and Mayor Pico <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />5. MEET1NG OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Becky Hopkins, Recreation Supervisor, said the "Week of the Young Child" is an <br />annual event that has been celebrated nationwide since 1971. At the City Preschool there <br />are several events taking place during the week, including a Tri-Valley Food Drive. The <br />Library is having special reading times for preschool and young school aged children. <br />Kathy Holman, Parent Association, received the "Week of the Young Child" <br />proclamation. Brerma and Collette Holman presented Councilmembers with lapel pins. <br /> <br /> Veto Dunder, 4713 and 4725 First Street, commented on the recent approval of <br />the Specific Plan and some items left open to be studied, particularly the southern section <br />of Main Street, and the relocation and building of a new City Hall. She urged the <br />formation of a citizens group to work closely with staff during the design process in order <br />to satisfy the needs of the community. <br /> <br /> Brian Arkin, 3740 Newton Way, thanked Councilmembers for their vote to <br />reconsider the Bemal Property land uses and possibly placing it on the November ballot. <br />He spoke of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park and a similar vision for the City of <br />Pleasanton to do something outstanding for the community. He announced his plans for <br />a ballot initiative for the November election. <br /> <br /> Jack Hovingh, 4250 Muirwood Drive, thanked Councilmembers for representing <br />the will of the community and taking actions they were elected to take.
