along with giving the right-of-way, that the City will immediately construct the road. However,
those agreements will not be signed by the City until it can guarantee the funding for the
infrastructure. There are some issues with one property owner, but the City is working on that.
Staff expects to begin grading in August in order to be ready for PG&E to begin its construction.

Mr. Brozosky asked if it were tree that in the event the City of Pleasanton is not ready to
begin grading in a timely manner, that PG&E can choose to go with the alternative route?

Ms. McKeehan said that is the position of PG&E.

Jack Hovingh, 4250 Muirwood Drive, said he was impressed with how elegant Council
was in its eulogies of Randy Lum. Even in stressful situations, Randy had a great sense of
humor, had a great deal of integrity and he will be missed greatly. A Director of Public Works
can be replaced, but the individual never will be. He expressed his sympathy for Mr. Lum's
family. He was glad that a memorial fund had been established and asked that the information
be shown on television.

Mark Posson, 3036 Chardonnay Drive, asked Council to take action on the continuing
problem of cut-through traffic on Chardonnay Drive and vehicles driving the wrong way on
Sauterne. He reminded Council that in conjunction with the Vineyard Corridor Specific Plan
approval, that a traffic calming program was required for his neighborhood. The alternative
preferred by the residents was to have Chardonnay Drive converted to a one way street with
landscaping and a fence. Staff recommended striping only and Council approved that
recommendation with a caveat that if that does not work, it would reconsider the design. He
showed photographs to demonstrate the problem and asked Council to install the traffic calming
mechanism preferred by the residents.

5.
