MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL March 5, 2002 YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT DAY 6:30 CLOSED SESSION Conference with Real Property Negotiator Deborah McKeehan regarding acquisition of property fi.om Mortenson (6748 Alisal Road), Adams (1340 Happy Valley Road), Spotomo (Minnie Road), and Koopmann (Pleasanton Sunol Road) 1. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico at 7:06 p.m. Councilmember Campbell led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. He indicated this was a great day for our country (election day) and he hoped that those eligible to vote had exercised their Constitutional fight to vote. He welcomed the high school students who were participating in the Youth in Government Day Program and introduced them as follows: Jacki Satoutah, Lindsey Gomez, Monica Ramirez, Jason Birch, Geoff Haack, Aaron Sayer, Danielle Nunes, Michael Johnson, Melissa Harvey, Sarah Ballard, Michael Avrukian, Shasta Alverson and Erik Hansen. Aaron Sayer said he had a good experience and learned a lot about city government. He shadowed Police Captain Radford and leamed a lot about the Police Department. Sarah Ballard said she had moved here in her freshman year and always felt detached from the community. After speaking with the Mayor and learning how much he considers the youth in his daily activities, she felt more connected to the community and thanked the Youth in Government Program. Erik Hansen said he appreciated shadowing the City employees and appreciated more what the City employees do for the community. Jason Birch enjoyed witnessing first-hand how government affects us.
