7 <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />There was a break at 7:28 p.m. <br /> <br />The meeting reconvened at 7:35 p.m. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico introduced Tim Meese, the new Executive Director of Pleasanton <br />Downtown Association. He related Mr. Meese's experience and welcomed him to the <br />City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Mr. Meese thanked Mayor Pico and indicated he looked forward to working with <br />the Council and the community. <br /> <br /> Gall Gilpin recognized ProBusiness, Inc. for being named one of the fastest <br />growing technology companies in Silicon Valley and in Pleasanton. She read the <br />commendation and Mayor Pico presented it to Steve Klei, the Executive Vice President <br />and Chief Financial Officer. <br /> <br /> Mr. Klei thanked Council for the recognition. He stated the business climate In <br />Pleasanton contributed to his company's growth and ability to attract excellent <br />employees. He described the business and indicated the commitment to give back to the <br />community. He described the program to refurbish computers and donate them to the <br />schools. He challenged other companies to do the same. <br /> <br /> Ms. Gilpin then acknowledged businesses that had been in operalion in <br />Pleasanton for 15 years. Councilmember Campbell presented certificates to the <br />following businesses: Scott Bowman, M.D.; California Learning Center; Thomas <br />Burton, attomey; Alpha Site; Studio 7 Fine Arts (The Barlett Gallery); and Accys <br />Technology, Inc. Those businesses unable to attend were: Rose Machine, Inc. (Accurate <br />Tool), AMP Printing, 9 & Co., 1~t Hunan Chef Wong, AB Property Management <br />Incorporated, Dean Anthony, M.D., and Atldnson, Andelson, Loya & Romo. <br /> <br /> Brad Hint, 1811 Santa RAta Road #128, asked for better lighting on the art work <br />at Civic Park. He also asked for better enforcement of speed limits in front of schools, <br />especially in front of Harvest Park Middle School and Amador Valley High School. <br /> <br /> Police Chief Tim Neal indicated Pleasanton has a reputation for being strict in its <br />traffic enforcement and 2,200 motorists a month can attest to that. Schools are always a <br />priority. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta indicated the lighting had been reduced because of safety issues due <br />to a claim that had been fried against the City. <br /> <br /> Christine Steiner, 596 Hamilton Way, indicated affordable housing was a <br />regional, if not a state, problem. The Housing Commission realizes that multifaceted <br />solutions are necessary. It has met with the Livermore Human Services Commission and <br />developed various goals. Those will be on the agende for January and she hoped Council <br />will authorize continuation of p~g regional solutions to affordable housing issues. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council <br />Minutes 7 12/05/00 <br /> <br /> <br />
