Sane Hart, 5883 Felicia Avenue, Livermore, said she and her husband bicycle
frequently and like biking to Pleasanton. They get nervous riding on the roads and she
strongly supports this project and the Master Trail Plan to help keep people offthe roads.

Jeanie Boiteux, 3282 Melanie Circle, is a Parkside resident and has lived in
Pleasanton for 16 years. Listening to all of the speakers it occurred to her that some of
the l~rks in town do have open and closed times posted. As far as she knows, there is
nothing posted in regards to when a trail would be open or closed. This might be
something that might be taken into consideration. There are people who are utilizing
these trails, even though the trails are supposed to be closed. Are there going to be times
designated as being closed? She would like to suggest some sort of guidelines for hours
of use. She has had numerous times when she has been awakened by the voices of
people using the trail. Neighborhood dogs are constantly barking, she gets awakened
four or five times each week. She is losing sleep because people are jogging at six in the
morning.

Mr. Pico said that all comments are welcome, whether you are a new resident, a
resident that has been here for a while, or a visitor from another city. The Pleasanton
City Council appreciates the input and understands this is an important issue for the
residents of Parkside. He asked staff about the noticing confusion.

Mr. Lure said that the email address was correct, but the phone number was for a
different staff member. However, the phone number had voice mail messages that were
retrieved. The City's regular email also received many comments on this item.

Mr. Pico asked about the deadline for the project.

Mr. Lure said the funding process requires the City to submit construction plans
to Caltrens for review. Caltrans has asked the local agencies to submit those plans to it
by August 1. Upon review and approval there would be a three-year time during which
the project is to be constructed and opened.

Mr. Pico asked about the possibility of putting the Arroyo Mocho trail on the
north side. He asked if this is something being looked at for future plans.

Mr. Lure said staff is looking at the north side vs. the south side, and what that
might involve. If it became clear that the current funding would not extend very far on
the north side, the project would be re-evaluated and an approach would be identified that
would allow flexibility for the trail to be extended on either side. That discussion will
need to be brought back to the community and Council as staff reviews the Trails Master
Plan. The decision is still open.

Mr. Pico asked if it is still feasible to have it on the north side.

Plea~nton City Council 16 07/17/01
Minutes
