way to Bemal and would have two entrances on Stanley and Bernal and it would make a
beautiful curved street and would be very nice if this took place. If there is a future
extension of that street, then that should be taken into consideration. He said that he
found the name Nebraska very offensive. Because it is on Del Valle Parkway on the
creek, at least if it were to be changed instead of calling it Del Valle Parkway it could be
called Delaware. This is something that sounds very close and there are no Delaware's in
the Th Valley area. This is a prettier name. He said his first request would be if
California Avenue could be made all the way to Bernal so when people are trying to find
businesses in this area, they can enter from Bernal or Stanley. He said he would even
like the name Nevada Street, but certainly Nebraska is a very offensive name. It is not a
pretty name.

Ms. Michelotti said she felt that California Avenue and California Street would be
too confusing.

It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Ms. Michelotti approving the name
change for the section of Del Valle Parkway with the understanding that the City
would work with the residents affected by the name change to come up with a
mutually acceptable name

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti and Mayor Pico
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Campbell
ABSTAIN: None

Item 6c
Approval of AT&T Franchise Agreement and Introduction of Cable Franchise
Ordinance. She said this was the first time that the City had an ordinance that addressed
customer service standards and the City will be an advocate for residents. It is the City's
job to enforce the standards that the City has contracted for. This is really the type of
issue that she had concerns with and there are things the City will do in the future. She
looked forward to working with any resident who had concerns about service levels or
ideas about information they would like access to through the City website.

Pleasanton City Council 24 04/17/01
Minutes
