(SR 01:088)

Sil DeFazio, 3711 Mohr Avenue, asked for clarification of this item.

Mayor Pico indicated this item was to decide whether or not to have a workshop
to discuss the options for the property. No decision on the actual property would be
made at this meeting.

Albert Wiemken, P. O Box 966, Pleasanton, agreed the workshop is a good idea
and presented a brief history for this property. A proposal was developed at a previous
workshop that had consensus among the group with one dissenter. The Planning
Commission approved the plan after many public hearings. He was shocked when the
plan was later the subject of a referendum by people who did not live in the area and
never attended any of the meetings. He and his group spent eight months on the plan. He
hoped for more public attendance at the proposed workshop and for people to work
together on plans for this area. He did not like the idea that a project could be the subject
of a referendum after all that work. He said the same thing happened regarding the
Men'itt property. The density on either side of the project was higher and the proposal
was really nice. It was referended by the same people. He felt that a good job had been
done in planning the Mohr-Martin area and felt people should work together and learn to
compromise.

Pleasanton City Council 4 04/03/01
Minutes
