Austin <br /> <br />January 18, 2001 <br /> <br />City of Pleasanton <br />200 Old Bemal Avenue. <br />Pleasamon, CA <br /> <br />To the Residents and staff of City of Pleasanton, <br /> <br />I am writing on behalf of the Austin family to encourage approval of the PUD <br />development plar~ and draft master plan for the historic Alviso Adobe commumty park <br />My family own 30 acres of property directly across old foothill road from the Al¥iso <br />Adobe <br /> <br />My name is Charles Bnggs Austin, Grandson of Walter M. Briggs, who founded the <br />Meadowlark dairy in 1919. The original dairy property encompassed the present <br />Adobe parkland, Laguna Oaks and Bernal Corporate Park. <br /> <br />My Great Grandfather recognized the historic significance of the Alviso Adobe and had it <br />renovated in the early 1920's I can recall sharing meals, with the dairy workers in the <br />Adobe as young child The Alviso Adobe has great Sentimental value to our family to <br />retain both the heritage of our dairy operation & the rural atmosphere of the immediate <br /> <br />We would like to thank Pleasanton Residents, and the city staff, pa~txoalady the task <br />force members who contributed much time and effort into the planning of the Alviso <br />Adobe park Our famaly is very excited that the park will retain the heritage of the dairy <br />industry in general and the Meadowlark Dairy in particular The park will also be a great <br />spot to explore the nth Spanish & Native Indian history of the area. We want to <br />encourage the approval and improvement of the park. <br /> <br />As mentioned previously our family still owns approximately 30 acres across foothill <br />road from the park As a mater of fact, our dear friends the Takens have lived on the <br />property since the 1950's when they first came to work at the Dairy. larmes and his <br />f0mily proceeded to purchase the dairy operation and today their Son Bruce runs the <br />Meadowlark Dairy on Neff street <br /> <br /> <br />
