Accept public improvement for Santos Ranch Road Pavement Repair, Project No.
995022; authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject
project; authorize final payment to McGuire and Hester in the amount of $427.50;
and authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $6,253.58 to McGuire
and Hester thirty days after filing the Notice of Completion. (SR 01:007)

Adopt Resolution No. 01-002, reappointing Richard Whitsel as Trustee of the
Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District. (SR 01:015)

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Campbell, Dennis, Michelotti, and Mayor Pico
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Jack Hovingh, 4250 Muirwood Drive, wished a happy new year to the Council
and welcomed Councilmember Campbell to the Council.

Jennifer Hosterman, 2922 Chardonnay Drive, reiterated her request for the
formation of an Environmental Commission. She wanted the commission to develop a
sustainable plan for the City of Pleasanton. The United Nations definition of a
sustainable society is one that "meets the needs of the present without sacrificing the
ability of furore generations to meet their own needs." She believe the commtmity needs
to deal with quality of life issues regarding water, sewer, power, etc. A number of other
communities in the Bay Area have done this and she believed they would share their
guidelines and sample plans. She felt time was of the essence and urged Council to
address this issue soon. On another issue, she expressed her opposition to the proposed
McDonalds Restaurant at Stanley and Valley Avenue. She was concerned about the
kinds of businesses that are located at the entrance to this community.

6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS

Item 4e
2001 Local and Regional Appointments for City Councilmembers (SR 01:014)

Mayor Pico wanted Council to be aware that Ms. Michelotti had a concern about
a change in the representative on the School Impact Fee Committee. She was being
replaced by Councilmember Dennis and wanted the opportunity to sit in on one more
meeting to complete a project she was working on. Ms. Dennis agreed.

Pleasanton City Council 4 01/09/01
Minutes
