The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarver
NOES: Mayor Tarver on Item 4j
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: Councilmembers Michelotti and Pico on Items 4h and 4k

5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Mayor Tarver made special mention of the ar~ work to be installed in front of the
library to honor former Councilmember Wait Wood in appreciation of his years of
service to the community.

Presentations were made honoring the follo~ving businesses in operation in
Pleasanton for 20 years: A Able Enterprises, Bernard & Bob's Classic Auto Body, Butler
Design Serviees~ Big O Tires, and Pleasanton Sunrooms (Advance Solar Systems). The
tbllowing businesses were also honored, but representatives were unable to attend:
Casual Corner Group, Aubergine, and Precision Auto Repair.

Each of the honorees expressed their appreciation for the award and to the
community. It was pointed out that Bernard & Bob's Classic Auto Body and Big O Tires
have three generations operating the businesses.

Other Speakers

AI Spotorno, Box 487, Pleasanton, expressed his concerns about ihe new
alignment of Sycamore Road from Snnol Boulevard to Sycamore Creek Way. He said it
is impossible for agricultural trucks to make the turn and complained of his restricted
access. He said he had been working with City staff since February to resolve this
problem, but the process is taking too long. He needed to have improvements to the
intersection before the rainy season begins. He suggested taking out the curbs.

Mr. Lum acknowledged that Mr. Spotorno and other agricultural interests in the
Iqappy Valley area have expressed their concerns. Staff has had meetings and done field
tests. He believed the street was wide enough for fire engines but not wide enough for
large agricultural trucks. Staff agrees some modification needs to be done on Snnol
Boulevard and on Sycamore Creek Way and indicated a design would be finalized this
week. They hope to start construction within two weeks and expect completion of the
project within three weeks.

Mr. Spotomo believed the project would take longer and indicated his family was
already experiencing an economic bardship. He said it is ironic that his family dedicated
land to the county for Alisal, Sycamore and Happy Valley roads and now they are denied
full access to their property.

Pleasanton City Council 4 09/19/00
Minutes
