Kcith Kjelstrom, Director for California Main Street Program for the California <br />Trade and Commerce Agency, presented to the City of Pleasanton certification as a <br />California Main Street Community. Mr. Kjelstrom commended Mr. Scharton for his role <br />in the Pleasanton community and to the City in acquiring this certification. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti presented Mr. Scharton a City Council Proclamation honoring him <br />for his leadership with the Pleasanton Downtown Association, <br /> <br /> Mr. Scharton thanked City Council and staff, Pleasanton Do~vntown Association, <br />Pleasauton Chamber of Commerce, Pleasanton Visitor and Convention Bureau, the media <br />and the Pleasanton community for their cooperation and support. <br /> <br /> Jerry Thorne, Pleasanton Seahawks representative, introduced four young wonten <br />who participated in the Olympic Trials held in Indianapolis, Indiana in August and <br />described their many awards and achievements. Commendations were presented to <br />Seahawk members Candace Weiman, Cathy Colcr, Jen Lees and Kim Harada <br />(represented by her mother, Nora Hamda) for their outstanding achievements and for <br />bringing honor to themselves and their community. Mr. Thorne also thanked Seahawks <br />coach Steve Morselli for his positive influence to all young people and for his dedication <br />to coaching. <br /> <br /> Kathy Narum, President of the Pleasunion Seahawks, shared remarks that Mr. <br />Morselli had sent. She expressed her appreciation to City Council for the time and effort <br />taken in recognizing the women and their Olympic Trials participation. <br /> <br /> Joarme Torre and Carol Vcrsillano, representing the Pleasanton Jose Maria <br />Areadot Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, <br />accepted the City Council Proclamation of '~Constitution Week,'~ September 17 through <br />23, 2000. <br /> <br />6.
