Ms. Ayala reminded middle school parents that in July they would be receiving
li'om PUSD a "free pass" for five weeks for all middle school students in Pleasanton.
This is a pilot program and both the City of Dublin and the City of Livermore are
watching to see what kind of results the City of Pleasanton has. She encouraged the
parents involved to see if this program works for your student and to give it a try. The
passes will be valid lbr a week before school starts so that the students can get used to it
and suggested perhaps the parents can take a ride on the bus line with the student and get
them acclimated.

Ms. Dennis said that the parent volunteers have really made this program. Staff
has done a wonderful job of working with the schools and she would encourage people
who have elementary and middle school students to volunteer lbr this program.
Volunteers are really what makes this program work and it is an excellent way to serve
your school. She asked if the documents in the staff report could be put onto the City's
website for people to download? For people who have questions, this would be m~ easy
way Ibr them to see what has been done thus far and then be able to come to the traffic
committee better informed and knowing how to contact the people at their particular
school.

Ms. Michelotti expressed her thanks to Ms. Bonaram for all of her hard work.
Ms. Bonanno is a motivator and has worked so well with this group of volunteers and this
program is being expanded. The City is looking into expanding the idea of walking
pools, etc., to the LAVTA system where perhaps parents would accompany groups of
student to the bus as well. This is being investigated and the LAVTA representatives are
pushing hard for this. There is a lot going on to help with the traffic situation.

Ms. Acosta noted that the City has worked with PtJSD for a number of years to
help the traffic circulation problems with the schools. We wcrc minimally efl~ctive, but
now the volunteers arc involved. This program could not succeed without their
participation.

There were no public speakers on this item.

It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to approve the
School Traffic Calming Program.

The roll call vote was as filllows:

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAiN:

Councilrnembers Ayala.
