Mayor Tarver questioned the traffic impact.

Mr. Swift reiterated there would be no new trips during peak traffic hours with
respect to the expansion.

Mayor Tarver inquired about the status of the telecommunications tower in
Kottinger Park.

Mr. Lum responded the tower was still there. After a meeting with residents it
was decided to allow the tower to stay and hope that Pacific Bell would remove the tower
because of its obsolescence. However, that does not appear to be aworkable solution.
Meetings will be scheduled with Pacific Bell and the neighborhood. Pacific Bell had
oft~red to remove the tower and replace it with a "stealth" tower, which is a monopole.
The residents are considering whether that was acceptable.

Mayor Tarver declared the public hearing open.

David Wagner, Garcia/Wagner and Associates, 143 Second Street, San Francisco,
representing Pacific Bell, indicated because the building replaces some parking spaces,
there was only a net addition of 28 parking stalls. He has worked closely with staff to
improve the landscaping on the entire western part of the site. He was available to
answer any questions.

There being no further testimony, the public hearing was closed.

It was moved by Ms. Dennis, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to adopt Resolution No.
00-030, approving a Negative Declaration for the application, and to introduce
Ordinance ]No. 1803, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof,
approving the application of Pacific Bell for a PUD major modification to allow the
following: 1) the construction of a new one-story administrative office building
which is proposed to be approximately 4,000 sq. ft. in size and 19 feet in height
(including the roof equipment screen); 2) the construction of approximately 36 new
parking stalls; and 3) new landscaping and modifications to the existing landscaping
on the site located at 7240 Johnson Drive, as filed under Case PUD-82-19-6M.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Pleasanton City Council 25 03/21/00
Minutes
