Sellers, Gwendolyn Smith, Sarah Steele, Samuel Weaver, Andrew Whelan, Jennifer <br />Wong, and Kristine Young. <br /> <br /> Kristine Young expressed her appreciation for the teacher of the Civics Class, Malt <br />Campbell. She indicated it is a great honor to represent Pleasanton in the competitions. She <br />asked for a contribution from the City to help with expenses to travel to Washington, D.C. <br />for the national competition. <br /> <br />Ms. Acosta asked where the community can send contributions. <br /> <br /> Mr. Campbell said the community has already donated many thousands of dollars, <br />but more is needed. He said contributions can be sent to Amador Valley High School care <br />of the Amador Valley Competition Civics Team. Mr. Campbell indicated the Rotary Clubs, <br />North and South, have contributed $2,000 to the fund. There will be a fund raiser at Round <br />Table Pizza on Main Street on Wednesday, March 8, 2000. <br /> <br />Mr. Pico supplied his hat, which was passed around the audience. <br /> <br /> The members of the civics team were then introduced and photographs were taken. <br />The students participating in Youth in Government Day were excused. <br /> <br /> James W. Wolfe referred to Consent Calendar item 4s and presented an update on <br />the adult day care program at the Senior Center. The program was reopened on <br />February 28, 2000 under the auspices of the Bay Area Community Services. Easter Seals <br />has been very cooperative in assisting the transition. It will take about 60-90 days to <br />develop a request for proposal to find a permanent long term provider. It is expected the <br />licensing of the program will be granted within the next ten days. A recruitment committee <br />is being formed to develop the RFP process and select the new provider. He indicated many <br />agencies were involved including Bay Area Community Services (BACS), Friendship <br />Center in Livermore, Valley Community Health Center, Alameda County Agency on <br />Aging, Pam Deaton and staff of the Pleasanton Paratransit Service, Livermore Amador <br />Valley Transit Agency (LAVTA)~ and staff of Easter Seals Heritage Program. Most of all <br />he expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Eileen Mo~ey. <br /> <br /> Will Kearl, 4524 Mirador Drive, on behalf of the Youth Commission, expressed <br />appreciation for the cooperation of the City for Youth in Government Day. <br /> <br /> Ron Magee, 7576 Northland Place, San Ramon, indicated he would make a <br />contribution for the Civics Team and asked Council to match his donation. He asked <br />Council to consider dedicating a park to the veterans who have died in wars. He related his <br />difficulties with the Police Department and the courts. He complained about the staff at the <br />Traffic Court.
