REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br /> PrOposed Hotel-Motel Tax <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Rega that Ordinance <br /> No. 560, imposing a tax upon the priviledge of transient occupancy and providing <br /> for the collection thereof, be introduced. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />' NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the <br /> reading of Ordinance No. 560 be waived. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Matters for the Informa~ion..of the.Council <br /> Mr. Fales indicated that copies of Resolutions 81-69 and 92-69, adopted by the <br /> City of Livermore regarding Bay Fill, had been transmitted to the Council. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales stated that the announcement for the next regular meeting of the <br /> East Bay Division of the League of California Cities had been transmitted to <br /> the Council. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE.~IT~ ATTORNEY <br /> .~roposed Ordinance Re: Truck Routes within the City <br /> The City Attorney indicated that rather than introduce the amending ordinance <br /> at this meeting, it would be in order for the City Council to authorize the staff <br /> to publish notice of the public hearing regarding this matter and to set the <br /> public hearing. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br /> that the staff be instructed to publish the notice regarding these new truck <br /> routes and to set the public hearing no sooner than 60 days after publication. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Further Report Re: Feasibility of establishin~ the office of a separately elected <br /> mayor <br /> The City Attorney presented his report, and after some discussion it was <br /> decided that this matter would be put over for a few weeks in order to allow the <br /> City Manager to gather information regarding the practical administrative and <br /> political aspects of directly electing a mayor. <br /> <br /> Approval of Pre-Annexation Agreement with A. Silva <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Reid that <br /> Resolution No. 69-157, approving the Pre-Annexation Agreement with A Silva, and <br /> authorizing the appropriate City officials to execute the agreement, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> CO~rNICATIONS <br />-- There were no communications. <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilman Reid requested that the City contact the City of Livermore in order <br /> to ascertain their plans regarding the construction of stop lights and other <br /> traffic safety devices at the intersection of Stanley and Murietta Blvds. <br /> <br /> Mayor Gerton requested that the staff contact Mr. James Carskaddon, of the <br /> Odd-Fellows Cemetery, in order to have him appear at the earliest possible Council <br /> meeting. <br /> <br /> Councilman Beratlis suggested that the City Council authorize the preparation <br /> and presentatio.. of a Community Service Award to Bobby Griffitts, for his efforts <br /> and success in the Para-Olympics. <br /> <br /> 4. <br /> <br /> <br />
