Council Advisory Committee on Human <br />Relations <br /> Mr. Dale Mead, Chairman of the Sub-Committee of the City Council Advisory <br />Committee on Human Relations, presented the report concerning Human Relations <br />that was done by several young people in the community. Mr. Mead requested that <br />this item be referred to a study session and that interested people be invited to <br />attend this session. Mayor Getton instructed the staff to work with Mr. Mead in <br />order to invite those interested persons to the study session that will be held <br />July 21, 1969. <br /> <br />Expression of Gratitude to the Steering Committee of the "Fiesta Organization" <br />for their work on the Fiesta <br /> Mayor Getton, on behalf of the City Council, expressed his gratitude to Clint <br />Logan, Maxine Kessel and John Stanley for their work during the Fiesta Celebration. <br />Mr. Gerton instructed the staff to prepare three Community Service Awards to be <br />presented to these people in the near future. <br /> Mr. Logan returned to the City the $2,500.00 which was loaned to him at the <br />beginning of the Fiesta. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />~eport of the RecreatiOn and Park Commlssion Re: Co-Sponsored status of Pleasanton <br />Junior Football and possible fundinJ~ <br /> A group of local parents requested that the City Council favorably consider <br />including the Pleasanton Junior Football Program in the Recreation Budget for next <br />year. Mrs. Nancy Clemens stated that in light of the fact that many qualified <br />community leaders were donating time and effort to this project, it would be in <br />order for the Council to approve the inclusion of this program. Mayor Getton <br />stated, on behalf of the City Council, that the Pleasanton Junior Football program <br />was an excellent program and that the Councilmen in no way meant to indicate <br />that they would not consider co-sponsoring the program. He stated that the ques- <br />tion was one of money and that in the 1969-70 Budget the City Council was hard <br />pressed to initiate any new programs. <br /> After some discussion, it was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Council- <br />man Reid that Resolution No. 69-156, approving the Pleasanton Junior Football pro- <br />gram co-sponsored status, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Betaills, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was understood that the City Manager, the Director of Recreation, and the <br />Recreation and Park Commission would inspect the 1969-70 Adopted Budget in order <br />to attempt to find some money to support the program, with the understanding that <br />the Council would review any recommendation regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> <br />
