Discussion ensued regarding the Abbie Street crossing which is not signalized. <br />Mr. Fales suggested that the Council review the 1969-70 Budget before any decision <br />is made regarding this crossing. <br /> <br />Request of the Bank of America for..c.~ty council Resolution.opposin~ elimination <br />of tax exempt status of Municipal Bonds <br /> Mr. Fales read a copy of a letter addressed to Mr, Clausuitzer, Manager of the <br />Pleasanton Branch of the Bank of America, from Mr. Alan K. Browne, Senior Vice- <br />President of the Investment Administration, Bank of America, in which was recom- <br />mended that local public agencies oppose any action on the part of Congress which <br />would have an adverse effect on State and local government bonds. Mr. Fales agreed <br />with this recommendation and urged the Council to oppose the elimination of the <br />tax exempt status for municipal bonds since the City would be virtually unable to <br />sell bonds if this proposed legislation were to become effective. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that <br />Resolution No. 69-148, opposing the elimination of the tax exempt status for muni- <br />cipal bonds, be adopted. <br />T~e.roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Matters for the Inform~t.ion.of...the....CoUn~il <br />Mr. Fales announced that the Annual League Conference will be held in San <br />Francisco from September 28th to October 1, 1969. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales also announced that the library services for the City would be in- <br />creased, according to a letter he had received from the Bookmobile Library. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Progress Report Re: Feasibility of establish~8 the office of a separately elected <br />mayor <br /> Mr. Hirst suggested that this matter be discussed after he obtains more in- <br />formation regarding this matter. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />From Mr. F. Raymond Young, 2 Castlewood Drive, Re: Phasing out of the Greyhound <br />Eus Terminal <br /> Mr. Fales was instructed to contact Mr. LaDuke, representative from the Grey~-- <br />hound Bus Company, and invite him to appear before the City Council to discuss <br />this matter. <br /> <br />From Casas Buenas; Re: Housin~ Authorit~ Services and Fees <br /> Mr. Fales suggested this matter be discussed after the 1969-70 Budget Study <br />Session has been held. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY CQUNCIL ME. MBER.~ <br /> Councilman Spiliotopoulos suggested that the City Council recognize the work <br />done by the Fiesta 75 Steering Committee. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Rega <br />that the members of the Fiesta 75 Steering Committee be invited to attend a <br />Council meeting in order that the City Council can personally thank them for <br />their efforts. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilman Beratlis requested that the Fair Liaison Committee consider the <br />problem of dust control on Rose Avenue during the Fair and also the trimming of <br />the hedge on Rose Avenue. <br /> <br /> Mayor Gerton commended the City employees who cleared the debris from the <br />streets after the Fiesta Dance. <br /> <br /> Mayor Getton asked Mr. Fales to have Mr. Carskaddon, Pleasanton Memorial <br />Gardens, appear before the Council to discuss the gravestone situation at the <br />Cemetery. <br /> <br /> <br />
