Mr. Fales stated that he had a request from the City Employees Association to <br /> conduct a Kangaroo Court during the Fiesta 75 Celebration and also to proclaim <br /> June 20-29, 1969, as Fiesta Week. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Reid that the May~r <br /> be authorized to proclaim June 20th-29th, 1969, as "Fiesta Week". <br /> The.roll.call vote.wa~ ~ ~o~lo~s: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiltotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br /> --- NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> There were no reports from the City Attorney. <br /> <br /> COMMUNICATIONS <br /> From Mr. and. Mrs. Robert Meyer, 460_E. Angel. a~ Pleasantog, Re: '~Gary Meye_Er <br /> Memorial Park" <br /> Mr. Fales read the letter from Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meyer, thanking the City <br /> Council and the Recreation and Park Commission for the "Gary Meyer Memorial Grovel'. <br /> <br /> From_..JOhn. Amaral, Secretary-ManaRer, P~e_asanton..Area Chamber of Commerce,.Re_._L' <br /> Annual Bar-B-Oue~' <br /> Mr. Fales stated that this letter would be listed on the City Council Calendar. <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilman Spiliotopoulos asked the City staff to investigate the feasibility <br /> of electing a mayor and what procedure would have to be taken. <br /> The City Attorney stated he would investigate this matter and report back to <br /> the Council. <br /> <br /> Councilman Rega asked the City staff when the ordinance regulating the speed <br /> of trains traveling through the City would be ready for discussion. Mr. Fales <br /> advised him that it would be available at the Council meeting of June 23rd. <br /> <br /> Councilman Rega also asked Mr. Fales to investigate two Federal Bills per- <br /> taining to safety of trains. <br /> <br /> Councilman Beratlis asked Mr. Fales to try to set up a Fair-Liaison meeting <br /> prior to the opening of the Fair. Mr. Fales stated that he would arrange this <br /> meeting. <br /> <br /> Councilman Beratlis also asked if something could be done about the litter <br /> in back of the stores in the Pleasant Plaza. Mr. Fales stated he would have the <br /> occupants of the stores informed of this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid suggested that the Study Session on the 1969-70 Budget be set. <br /> It was decided to hold this study session at 2:00 P.M., on June 24, 1969. <br /> <br /> MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> No one addressed the Chair. <br /> <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business at 9:30 P.M., it was moved by Councilman Rega <br /> and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the meeting be adjourned to meet again <br /> in Regular Session at 8:00 P.M., on June 23, 1969. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />__-- i~OES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> HELEN C.
