MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> Pleasanton, California <br /> April 21, 1969 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO FLAG <br /> Mayor Bernard Getton called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council to <br /> order at 8:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton were present. Council- <br /> man Rega was absent. Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. Edgar, Assistant City Manager, <br /> Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, and Mr. Castro, <br /> Director of Planning, were present. <br /> <br /> AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> Councilman Reid requested that the Hearing of Objections regarding the City's <br /> Intention to Abate Weeds, listed under Reports of the City Attorney, be heard <br /> immediately after the approval of the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br /> CO~SENT Q~LENDAR <br /> I[ was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br /> that the following items on the Consent Calendar be approved. <br /> <br />1. Adoption of Resolution No. 69-77, adopting a prevailing Wage Rate Schedule. <br /> <br />2. Approving the March, 1969, Claim Warrants in the amount of $126,543.92. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />~0ES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Rega <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> Hea____~i._ng of Objections Re: y s Intention to Abate Weeds on_~pp~_pximatelSyj~q <br /> Cit ' <br /> p_Ep_?~Fties located throughout the City <br /> Mr. Hirst stated that notices were sent out to all applicable property owners <br /> regarding the City's intention to abate weeds. <br /> Mr. Hirst also stated that there had been considerable response to these <br /> mostly from property owners advising the City that their weeds had already been <br /> cleared. <br /> There being no objections from the public regarding this matter, Mr. Hirst re- <br />commended that the staff be authorized to solicit bids to abate weeds. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br />that Resolution No. 69-79 authorizing the staff to solicit bids to abate weeds and <br />to allow the affected property owners approximately three weeks to accomplish their <br />own work before the City will abate their weeds, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />AB3K~: Councilman Rega <br />ABSTAIN: Councilman Reid <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid stated that he abstained from voting because he was notified <br />regarding his weeds. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Ade:~tion of a Proposed Ordinance Reg~l~tin~ Car~.~9~s~ Card Tables, and the Use <br />thereof for Gambling <br /> Mayor eerton declared the public hearing open. <br /> Mr. Fales reviewed the proposed ordinance and stated that three major items <br />within the ordinance, to be determined were regulating the hours of operation, <br />limiting the number of establishmen~ within the City and the number of tables <br />allowed in each establishment and the ultimate phasing out of these establishments. <br /> <br /> <br />
