MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL Pleasanton, California April 21, 1969 CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO FLAG Mayor Bernard Getton called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 8:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. ROLL CALL City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton were present. Council- man Rega was absent. Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. Edgar, Assistant City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, and Mr. Castro, Director of Planning, were present. AGENDA AMENDMENTS Councilman Reid requested that the Hearing of Objections regarding the City's Intention to Abate Weeds, listed under Reports of the City Attorney, be heard immediately after the approval of the Consent Calendar. CO~SENT Q~LENDAR I[ was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the following items on the Consent Calendar be approved. 1. Adoption of Resolution No. 69-77, adopting a prevailing Wage Rate Schedule. 2. Approving the March, 1969, Claim Warrants in the amount of $126,543.92. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton ~0ES: None ABSENT: Councilman Rega REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY Hea____~i._ng of Objections Re: y s Intention to Abate Weeds on_~pp~_pximatelSyj~q Cit ' p_Ep_?~Fties located throughout the City Mr. Hirst stated that notices were sent out to all applicable property owners regarding the City's intention to abate weeds. Mr. Hirst also stated that there had been considerable response to these mostly from property owners advising the City that their weeds had already been cleared. There being no objections from the public regarding this matter, Mr. Hirst re- commended that the staff be authorized to solicit bids to abate weeds. It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that Resolution No. 69-79 authorizing the staff to solicit bids to abate weeds and to allow the affected property owners approximately three weeks to accomplish their own work before the City will abate their weeds, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton NOES: None AB3K~: Councilman Rega ABSTAIN: Councilman Reid Councilman Reid stated that he abstained from voting because he was notified regarding his weeds. Mr. Fales reviewed the proposed ordinance and stated that three major items within the ordinance, to be determined were regulating the hours of operation, limiting the number of establishmen~ within the City and the number of tables allowed in each establishment and the ultimate phasing out of these establishments.
