MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> Pleasanton, California <br /> March 24, 1969 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE. TO FlAG <br /> Mayor Bernard Getton called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order <br /> at 8:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> Mayor Getton announced that the Pleasanton Camp Fire Girls are present <br /> and have requested this time to appear before the Council. <br /> The Pleasanton Camp Fire Girls presented the Mayor and City Councilmen with <br /> a birthday cake in commeration of the Camp Fire Girls 59th birthday. Mayor Gerton <br /> and the Councilmen congratulated them and expressed their appreciation for the <br /> cake. Mayor Getton stated that he had previously proclaimed the week of March <br /> 23rd-29th as ~'Camp Fire Girls Week". <br /> <br />"~ ROLL CALL <br />CO City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />~ Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton were present. <br />(_) Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. Edgar, Assistant City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City <br /> Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, and Mr. Castro, Director of <br /> Planning, were present. <br /> <br /> AGENpA AMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Fales requested that an approval of an agreement with the State Department <br /> of Finance to conduct a population census as of April 1, 1969, be added to the <br /> Consent Calendar. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Counnilman Beratlis that the <br /> following items on the Consent Calendar be approved: <br /> <br /> 1. Adoption of Resolution No. 69-59, accepting the work and directing the City <br /> Clerk to record the Notice of Completion for the West Pleasanton Sewer Pro- <br /> ject, Assessment District No. 67-1. <br /> <br /> 2. Adoption of Resolution No. 69-60, authorizing the City officers to execute <br /> the agreement with the State Department of Finance to conduct a population <br /> census as of April 1, 1969. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> Appeal of D&V Builders, Inc., from an adverse decision of the Planning Commission <br /> in denyinM an application for Planned Unit Develop~.ent.approval to allow construc- <br /> tion of single-family homes as noted under the preliminary development plans label- <br /> ed "Garden Court Homes"~ ~o be located in an R-2 District Renerally.situated <br /> easterly 9f Hopyard Road and northerly of Black Avenue <br /> Mayor Getton declared the public hearing open. <br /> Mr. Castro presented maps and reviewed the Planned Unit Development which com- <br /> prises 108 zero lot line homes and a small park to be used for pre-school aged <br /> children. <br /> Mr. Dudley Frost, representing D&V Builders, showed slides of similar develop- <br /> ments, pointing out the advantages of the zero lot line and the privacy it affords <br /> the purchaser. Mr. Frost also explained the variation in roofs and front fences. <br /> When questioned about the prices that these homes would sell for, Mr. Frost <br /> estimated that, at today's cost, a two bedroom, one bath, would cost approximately <br /> $19,675.00, and a three-bedroom, two bath, about $2,000.00 more. These prices, <br /> Mr. Frost explained, would qualify potential buyers who have an annual salary of <br /> about $9,000.00. <br /> Councilman Reid stated his concern for the potential buyers with annual <br /> salaries less than $9,000.00. <br /> <br /> <br />
