MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> Pleasanton, California <br /> March 10, 1969 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO FIAG <br /> Mayor Bernard Gertou called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order <br /> at 8:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmen Betaills, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton were present. <br /> Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. Edgar, Assistant City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City <br /> Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, and Mr. Castro, Director of <br /> Planning, were present. <br /> <br />h~ AGENDAAMENDMENTS <br />· '~ There were no amendments to the agenda. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Rega <br /> that the following items on the Consent Calendar be approved: <br /> <br /> 1. Waiving of the reading of Ordinance No. 549, amending Ordinance No. 219, <br /> regarding Civil Defense Regulations. <br /> <br /> 2. Adoption of Ordinance No. 549. <br /> <br /> __ 3. Adoption of Resolution No. 69-50, authorizing Progress Payment No. 5, in the <br /> amount of $30,661.69, be paid to Western Empire Construction Company for work <br /> completed on the Pleasanton Main Fire Station. <br /> <br /> 4. Approving the Minutes of the City Council meetings for February 3rd, 10th, <br /> 17th, and 24th, 1969. <br /> <br /> 5. Approving the February, 1969, Claim Warrants in the amount of $51,384.94. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as followS: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Betaills, Rags, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br /> ~IO~S: None <br /> ALSENT: None <br /> <br /> PUB LI C. HF,~R~NGS <br /> Application of Dr. R. P.. Juh~, et a~. ~oF an amendment to Ord. No. 520, rezoninR <br /> from the "A" District to the "O" District that p~qperty .described as the southwest <br /> corner of Black Avenue and Santa Rita Ro_ad, containinR.approximately 11.25 acres <br /> Mayor Getton declared the Public Hearing open. <br /> Mr. Castro reviewed the requested rezoning from the '~gricultural District" to <br /> the "Office District" which would allow the construction of a convalscent hospital <br /> and 25 medical suites. <br /> There being no public protest, it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and <br /> ~econded by Councilman Betaills that the public hearing be closed. <br /> The roll call vote was as followS: <br /> .... AYES: Councilmen Betaills, Rags, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br /> I.~OES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Considerable discussion ensued regarding the possibility of endangering a <br /> future general hospital by constructing such a concentrated medical center as <br /> proposed. Several Councilmen expressed preference to the original proposal over <br /> the revised plans. <br /> Councilman Rega moved that Ordinance No. 550, amending Ordinance No. 520, to <br /> fezone from the '~" District to the "O" District, that property described as the <br /> southwest corner of Black Avenue and Santa Rita Road, containing approximately <br /> 11.25 acres, be introduced. <br /> <br /> <br />
