20! 7 <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ~ANAGER <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> Mr. Fales announced that the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Pollution <br />Control District is holding a public hearing on the matter of banning backyard <br />burning in one and two-family dwellings within the six counties comprising the <br />District. Mr. Fales stated that this public hearing is scheduled for February <br />5, 1969, at 11:00 A.M., in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, City Hall, in San <br />Francisco. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />P~o~ress Report Re: Adams Way Condemnation Proceedings <br /> Mr. Hirst reported that the City has immediate possession of the right-of-way <br />and easements for underground utilities and sidewalks, curbs, and ~utters on this <br />property extending from the Valley View School to Kottinger Drive. Mr. Hirst <br />stated that the City should acquire title within two or three weeks. <br /> <br />Progress Report Re: Amicus C~riae Brief.r~arding Park Dedication Ordinance <br /> Mr. Hirst reported that he had received a letter from the Court of Appeal, <br />First Appellate District, granting permission to file an amicus curiae brief <br />regarding the park ordinance. Mr. Hirst also reported that this brief should be <br />served on all parties and filed with this Court within 30 days after the Appelants <br />opening brief has been filed. <br /> <br />COM~JNICATIONS <br />From Lee J. Amaral Re: Pleasanton Garbage ServiCe <br /> Mr. Fales stated that the Pleasanton Garbage Service is proposing a rate in- <br />crease. Mr. Fales recommended that this matter be referred to the City staff to <br />await sufficient information from the contractor in order that the staff may <br />determine whether the rate increase is due to a wage change within the Pleasanton <br />Garbage eervice or because of less production to the recent union contract. <br /> <br />Letter from Dr. Wm. S. Carnazzo <br /> Mr. Fales read Dr. Carnazzo's letter requesting the City of Pleasanton defer <br />action on the zoning of any hospital facilities until a comprehensive study of <br />the future health needs of this area is made. <br /> <br />Letter from Mr. Blake BiRgs <br /> Mr. Fales read Mr. Biggs letter in which he suggested that a garage in Pleasan- <br />ton for the purpose of allowing teenagers to work on their cars, be considered. <br /> <br />Letter and related resolution from the City. Clerk, City of Daly City <br /> Mr. Fales stated that this resolution, requesting legislation of the State of <br />California to provide for effective relief and tax reform for the property owners <br />of the State of California, was identical to Resolution No. 69-1, adopted by the <br />City Council on January 6, 1969. <br /> Mr. Fales was asked to have a copy of Resolution No. 69-1 forwarded to the <br />City of Daly City. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Councilman Reid suggested that the City of Pleasanton should wait for the <br />report on the Apperson Ridge until the Valley Planning Commission had discussed <br />this matter, <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid asked Mr, Hirst to investigate the rate structure of the CATV <br />and report his opinion for the Council, <br /> <br /> Mayor Getton asked Mr, Fales to investigate the matter of lead being removed <br />from gasoline in order to reduce the smog rate, <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> No one addressed the Chair, <br /> <br />STUDY SESSION RE: DISCUSSION OF .ZQN~.
