He recommended that BARTD pay for this study. <br />After continued discussion, it was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded <br />by Councilman Reid that the City of Pleasanton formally approve its participation <br />in the transit study, subject to the same action being taken by Valley Community <br />Services District. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: Councilman Spiliotopoulos <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />There were no repor.ts of the City Attorney presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />COI1MUNlCATIONS <br />From Mr. A. Junior Football League, Inc., Re: Expres~_ion <br />of gratitude to City Council for appropriation of funds <br />~ Mr. Fales was asked to acknowledge this letter. <br />~ <br />00 MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />~ Councilman Reid initiated discussion on the safety of children on Sunol <br />~ Boulevard walking and riding bicycles to the Pleasanton Elementary School from <br />~ the Rosepointe and Mission Park Subdivisions. He stated that travel on the west <br />side of the road facing oncoming traffic was dangerous and felt that if double <br />striping were painted on the east side that it would contribute much to their <br />safety. <br />Mr. Campbell was opposed to this suggestion by claiming it was much more <br />dangerous to travel with your back to the traffic, even though double striping <br />was done. <br />Councilman Reid asked Mr. Campbell to survey this situation and report on <br />a solution to this problem. <br />Councilman Reid also recommended that the current 45 miles per hour speed <br />limit in this area be reduced. Mr. Campbell stated that he would study this <br />matter also. <br /> <br />Mayor Gerton asked that a study be made regarding the lack of eommercia1 <br />Service Zoning in the downtown area. <br /> <br />Councilman Berat1is requested an Executive Session be held before the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br /> <br />Mayor Gerton recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 11:55 P.M. <br /> <br />Mayor Gerton reconvened the meeting at 12:09 A.M. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business at 12:10 A.Mot it was moved by Councilman Rega <br />and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the meeting be adjourned to meet again in <br />Adjourned Regular Session at 8:00 P.M.. on November 17, 1969. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis.
