<br />3:l.7 <br /> <br />The roll <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT : <br /> <br />call vote was as follows: <br />Councilmen Beratlis, Rega and Mayor Gerton <br />None <br />Councilmen Reid and Spiliotopoulos <br /> <br />Report Re: Camp Parks Sewage Treatment Facility <br />Mr. Fales reviewed the letter from Colonel Vernon Rider, Adjutant General. <br />Sixth Army Headquarters, Which was written in answer to Mr. Fales' letter regarding <br />the sewage ponds of the former Camp Parks Sewage Treatment facility. <br />Mr. Fales was asked to set up a joint meeting between VCSD and the City Council <br />and to invite the appropriate representativ~s of the Sixth Army to attend this <br />meeting, in order to attempt to resolve this problem. <br /> <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br />Mr. Fales stated that a copy of the meeting notice for the regular meeting of <br />the East Bay Di.vision of the League has been forwarded to the Council. <br /> <br />~ <br />-- <br />C() <br />.~ <br />U <br />U <br /> <br />Mr. Fales also stated that a hearing notice of the Assembly Committee on <br />Transportation in which they will discuss air pollution, has been forwarded to <br />the Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Fales distributed a letter from Dr. Donald E. Watson, Clean Air Coordinating <br />Committee. dated October 22, 1969, which will be discussed at a later date. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Mr. Hirst explained the matter of detachment from VCSD regarding Annexation <br />Nos. 53 and 56. and recommended that the City Council refile a petition to detach <br />the affected areas. <br />It was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that <br />Resolution No. 69-265. authorizing the staff to refile the petition of detachment <br />from VCSD, regarding the areas of Annexation Nos. 53 and 56. be adopted. <br />!he roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis. Rega and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmen Reid and Spiliotopoulos <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />There were no communications presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />Mayor Gerton stated that because of the seriousness of the increasing smog in <br />the last few days. he would like the City Attorney to investigate the feasibility <br />of limiting the population growth in this Valley. Mayor Gerton also asked the <br />City Attorney to investigate the following ~ossibilities: <br />1. Can the City of Pleasanton phase o~t the operation of automobiles on <br />the streets within the City by 1975. <br />2. Can the City of Pleasanton restrict the automobiles within the City <br />to one passenger automobile per family by 1972. <br />3. Can the City of Pleasanton sue other agencies or cities who allow <br />their smog to blow into this Valley. <br /> <br />Mayor Gerton asked Mr. Campbell to report on the proposed parking districts <br />and also on the progress of down-town demolition and upgrading. <br />Mr. Campbell replied that he will have these reports available as soon as <br />possible. <br /> <br />Mayor Gerton asked the Councilmen to consider the appointment of Mrs. Birdie <br />Meier as an alternate delegate to the SACE~ Board of Directors, receiving instruc- <br />tion and direction from the City Council and staff. <br />Councilman Beratlis suggested that this matter be discussed when all members <br />of the City Council were present. Mr. Fales stated that this matter will be on <br />next week's agenda. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br />Mr. Jim Ghielmel:ti. representing D&V Builders, reported the statistics of <br />approximately 50% of the people who have purchased homes in the Garden Court <br />Tract from the ques1:ionaire his Company had distributed. <br />Mayor Gerton tanked him for this information. <br /> <br />3. <br />
