all MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that he objected to publication he has read stating that the City of Pleasanton's position was used by the East Bay Regional Park District as a proponent against the Apperson Ridge Quarry. Councilman Spilio- topoulos reiterated that the City of Pleasanton took the same stand as the Valley Planning Commission and would like to find out why this statement was made. Councilman Spiliotopoulos objected to the editorial appearing in the Indepen- dent Paper stating that neither he nor the City Manager cared about getting local government to solve the smog problem. Mr. Fales stated that he is compiling a list of suggestions made by John Long, former Valley Smog Committee member, for evaluation. Councilman Rega added that the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory is also making a study of the smog problem. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC No one addressed the Chair. ~ ......, .;() ~ '..;) ,.,;) EXECUTIVE SESSION-CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTMENTS Mayor Gerton adjourned the meeting at 10:50 P.M.. to an Executive Session for the purpose of considering appointments to the Community Concerns Committee. Mayor Gerton reconvened the meeting at 11:20 P.M., whereupon Resolution No. 69-251 was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos, seconded by Councilman Beratlis, appointing the following persons as members of the Community Concerns Committee, for the following terms: 1. Mr. Walter Hood. 5284 Northway Road 2. Mrs. Shirley Castereon, 4849 Valley Avenue 3. Mr. Thomas Hart, 565 Gerard Court 4. Mr. John Stanley, 3850 Vineyard Avenue 5. Mr. Edward J. Kinney. 5493 Greenfield Way 6. Mr. Ted Fairfield. 6599 Stanton Court 7. Mr. Moses Clay. 4117 Moselle Court 8. Mr. William Hogan, 2639 Woodthrush Way 9. Mrs. June Vierra, 303 Neal Street 3 year term 3 year term 3 year term 2 year term 2 year term 2 year term 1 year term 1 year term 1 year term Resolution No. 69-251, as moved and seconded, also provided for the appointment of Mr. Walter Wood as Chairman, and Mrs. June Vierra as Vice-Chairman of the Com- munity Concerns Committee, both for one-year terms, and the appointment of Council- man Spiliotopoulos as the ex-officio City Council representative on the Committee. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton NOES: None ABSENT: None ADJOUR~ There being no further business, at 11:25 P.M., it was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Reid that the meeting be adjourned to meet again in Regular Session at 8:00 P.M.. on October 27, 1969.
