3,25 MATTIfJ3.S INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS Councilman Reid stated that he read an article in last Sunday's Oakland Tribune Newspaper regarding Stamp Out Smog Day, referred to as S.O.S. Day. He stated Senator Nicolas Petris is organizing a national stamp out smog campaign and sug- gested that the City Council send copies of local reports regarding smog in this Valley be sent to State and Federal officials. Mr. Edgar stated he would forward this material to the appropriate officials. Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that the City met with VCSD about three or four months ago and at that time were promised a report from Consultants regarding their sewage problem. Councilman Spiliotopoulos asked that a meeting be scheduled with VCSD as soon as possible, in view of the fact that the 6th Army has some m0di- fication plans for their own plant which could effect VCSD. ~ ~ 00 '""':) U U . It 'Jas moved by Councilman Spiliotopouios and seconded by Councilman Regs that Resolution No. 69-260, supporting People Limited for their efforts in cleaning the debris from the Arroyo del Valle Creek, be adopted. Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that he had received a letter from Mr. Robert Steffenauer requesting a resolution honoring the VFW and American Legion nay in Pleasanton on November 11. 1969. It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 69-26l. instructing the Mayor to declare November 11, 1969. as VFW and American Legion Day in Pleasanton, be adopted. !h~-!211 call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid. Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton NOES: None Al3SENT: None Councilman Rega passed out a pamplet regarding the effect of Air Pollution on health. Councilman Reid asked when the City Council and the School District were going to have a Study Session. Mr. Edgar stated that Mr. Fales was currently trying to schedule a study session to discuss certain nlatters of joint concern. 1'1"J:~TING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Mrs. Birdie Meier requested that a City employee be appointed to serve on the newly formed Poverty Board. Councilman Spiliotopoulos reported that Mr. Fales wrote a letter to Mr. Acosta, SACE~, some time ago requesting some pertinent answers concerning the Board, and has never received an answer. Mr. Edgar was directed to contact Mr. ~costa and ask him to reply to Mr. Fales' letter and to place this matter on the agenda for next week. ~9URNMENT There being no further business at 9:50 P.M., it was moved by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Beratlis that the meeting be adjourned to meet again in Adjourned Regular Session at 8:00 P.M., on November 3, 1969. ~~911 call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis.
